The Issue Every minute hundreds of babies are born into this world (Sharma Branscum, 2015). In the amount of time that it took to read these two sentences, at least one, if not two, children took their first breath. These lives and their immensity indicate the magnitude and importance that pregnancy carries. All mothers experience pregnancy differently, but all of them can attest to the stressors (and joys) that this time of life holds. The body and emotions of pregnant women are continuously changing as they adapt to the growing fetus and their changing lifestyle. In attempt to combat the difficulty of these adjustments, pregnant women are advised to exercise. Physical activities, safe for pregnancy, are proven to be beneficial, but stay on the superficial level of purely physical exercise. However, more recent research and studies are indicating that yoga may be a superior alternative, or addition, which can diminish many of the physical and emotional symptoms associated with pregnancy. What is Yoga? The practice of yoga is valuable in the lives of many people worldwide. The word yoga comes from the Sanskrit word meaning â€Å"union† (Sharma Branscum, 2015). This practice supports many dimensions of psychological well-being, including stress, anxiety, depression, other psychopathologies and everyday health challenges.
